These are the WWE SummerSlam 2024 results. The show took place on August 3 2024 from Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
SummerSlam 2024 Results
Liv Morgan defeated Rhea Ripley to retain the WWE Women’s World Championship.
Going into this match, Dominik Mysterio was at Rhea Ripley‘s side despite Liv Morgan‘s advances towards Dirty Dom. With Rhea about to use a steel chair, Dominik told Mami not to risk a disqualification. This allowed Liv to hit an Oblivion, but Rhea kicked out. However, Dom then slid the chair into the ringfor Liv to hit a second Oblivion and pin Rhea. Afterwards, Dom turned his back on Rhea by kissing Liv and left with the still-Women’s World Champion.
Bron Breakker defeated Sami Zayn to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Sami Zayn defeated Bron Breakker when these two previously clashed at Money In The Bank 2024. But here, Breakker made the most of his second opportunity and largely dominated the match. After an impressive top-rope Frankensteiner, Breakker hit Sami with two consecutive Spears to win and become Intercontinental Champion.
LA Knight defeated Logan Paul to win the WWE United States Championship.
Logan Paul largely survived his major matches through the use of brass knuckles. That came into play here, when he was given knucks from Machine Gun Kelly and clocked the challenger. But LA Knight survived and avoided a Buckshot Lariat by hitting Blunt Force Trauma. This secured the win and the United States Championship for LA Knight.
Nia Jax defeated Bayley to win the WWE Women’s Championship.
It seemed that Bayley would retain her title against Queen Nia Jax, especially after a powerbomb/elbow drop combo. But Tiffany Stratton‘s attempted Money In The Bank cash-in distracted Bayley long enough that Nia capitalised. Two Banzai Drops earned a three-count, and Nia became the new WWE Women’s Champion.
Drew McIntyre defeated CM Punk with Seth Rollins as special guest referee.
This long-running blood feud finally led to Drew McIntyre and CM Punk facing off. After surviving Punk’s early momentum, McIntyre began dominating the match and breaking Punk down slowly. Later, Punk retrieved the bracelet containing his wife and dog’s names that Drew had stolen. But during an Anaconda Vice, Punk noticed that Seth Rollins was wearing the bracelet. After a heated argument, Punk nailed Rollins with the GTS. The distraction led to McIntyre striking Punk with a low blow and two Claymores for the victory. Drew left victorious and once again stole the bracelet.
Gunther defeated Damian Priest to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Both men survived brutal blows and chops, with Damian Priest cutting open Gunther‘s chest with his physical offence. Gunther kicked out of a Razor’s Edge, while Priest survived a powerbomb. But when Priest nailed Gunther with a South Of Heaven chokeslam, Finn Balor placed Gunther’s foot on the ropes. Having betrayed his Judgment Day comrade, Balor looked pleased. Damian tried to attack Finn, but was susceptible to Gunther’s sleeper hold. Priest passed out, and Gunther became the new World Heavyweight Champion.
SummerSlam 2024 Main Event Match
Cody Rhodes defeated Solo Sikoa in a Bloodline Rules match to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Bloodline Rules means anything goes. And, after a competitive back-and-forth battle, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa interfered on Solo Sikoa‘s behalf. This brought out Kevin Owens and Randy Orton, who chased off the GOD combo. Then, Jacob Fatu ambushed Rhodes and splashed him through the announcer’s table, albeit injuring himself in the process. Suddenly, Roman Reigns – the original Tribal Chief – made his return. Making his intentions clear, Roman hit Sikoa with a Superman Punch and a Spear. Cody then dropped Solo with a Cross Rhodes combo to pick up the win and retain his crown.
