Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid exchanged close near-falls with Jacques and Raymond Rougeau. The fans fully supported the Bulldogs, but they weren’t able to avoid the time limit expiring before securing a victory.
Bad News Brown defeated Ken Patera
So, two of the WWF’s toughest competitors battled here at SummerSlam 1988. But Bad News was able to claim the win and solidify his tough reputation.
Ravishing Rick Rude defeated The Junkyard Dog by disqualification.
Rude revealed additional tights bearing the face of Cheryl Roberts, Jake Roberts’ wife. An enraged Jake interfered to attack Rude, causing the disqualification.

Beforehand, The Baron introduced The Warlord and The Barbarian for their WWF PPV debut. So, they made relatively short work of Nicholai Volkoff and Boris Zukhov.

Ultimate Warrior defeated The Honky Tonk Man to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship
Ultimate Warrior replaced the injured Brutus Beefcake after Honky Tonk Man vowed to face any challenger. Within 31 seconds, Warrior pinned Honky and the MSG crowd exploded. Consequently, HTM lost the Intercontinental Championship after almost 15 months.
Dino Bravo defeated Don Muraco
This was a long-running rivalry based on power and strength. And it was Bravo, the self-coined “World’s Strongest Man”, who sealed the win on this night.
Demolition defeated The Hart Foundation to retain the WWF Tag Team Championships
The numbers game doomed Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart, with Mr Fuji and Jimmy Hart accompanying Ax and Smash. Furthermore, the disadvantages from ringside ensured that Demolition would retain their Tag Team Titles.
Big Boss Man defeated Koko B. Ware
Slick’s newest prodigy, Big Boss Man immediately intimidated the WWF roster. So, he demonstrated his mean streak as he crushed Koko B Ware at MSG.
Jake Roberts defeated Hercules
There was the lingering prospect of Rick Rude looking for revenge of sorts from earlier in the evening. But Jake Roberts weathered the potential storm for long enough to put away Hercules.

The Mega Powers defeated The Mega Bucks with Jesse Ventura as special guest referee
Macho Man Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan promised a secret weapon for their clash against Ted DiBiase and Andre The Giant. The secret weapon? Miss Elizabeth removing her skirt to distract all involved. The Mega-Powers sealed the win, albeit with a reluctant three-count from Jesse Ventura. Afterwards, though, Savage was displeased at Hogan and his overexcited celebrations with Elizabeth.
