There are rumours of what WWE plans to present at SummerSlam 2024.
The event, emanating from Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio on 3 August 2024, is a major occasion. And WWE wants to lay a marker down to ensure the event lives up to its “biggest party of the summer” billing. Therefore, the rumoured matches could go a long way towards WWE achieving that goal.
What Are The Rumoured Matches?
Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton is a big rumour due to Orton’s King Of The Ring final clash against Gunther. With Bash In Berlin on the horizon, WWE seems likely to delay Gunther’s big singles title opportunity until that date. This gives WWE over two months to tell a compelling story to set up Rhodes vs. Orton based on their Legacy.
Expect Roman Reigns to battle Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam too. Sikoa has attempted to unseat the absent Roman as the Head Of The Table. With a SummerSlam comeback match likely, Roman should target his cousin in Cleveland.
There are other big matches on the rumour mill. These include Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan with a stipulation and Bayley vs. Bianca Belair. Not to mention Sami Zayn vs. Chad Gable, Logan Paul vs. LA Knight, and Damian Priest vs. Finn Balor. Oh, and Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk.
Will These Matches Happen At SummerSlam 2024?
Lynch vs. Morgan is happening in Saudi Arabia, so one wonders if their feud can extend to August. Otherwise, though, we feel that each of these matches has a great chance of happening in Cleveland. Certainly, McIntyre vs. Punk and Reigns vs. Sikoa are on the horizon. Bayley vs. Belair could happen if Bianca becomes Queen Of The King, possibly with a heel turn along the way. Furthermore, the story writes itself for Rhodes vs. Orton, plus it gives both men their biggest potential match for SummerSlam.
This, of course, likely means that The Rock won’t return to WWE to face Cody Rhodes until WrestleMania 41. Our inkling is that Rhodes will no longer hold the WWE Championship by then. Could Rock screw over the American Nightmare to further enhance their major rivalry? And could the Final Boss show up at SummerSlam for that very purpose?
